What are your thoughts on "fast fashion?" {Leather jacket from Ebay, vintage silk blouse, FindersKeepers knit shorts, gifted heels, bag from Zara} |
This past weekend was spent once again in Los Angeles. I'd like to think of ourselves as Suburban folks during the week, city by the weekend. Being in the 'burbs too long tends to get me antsy, as I am naturally an extroverted person who enjoys condensed areas lined with little mom n' pop restaurants and shops.
We spent the morning catching up over brunch with some friends who live in the city - good food and good company always go hand in hand! The combination of the two leaves my stomach and heart feeling satisfied! I also found a bakery that reminded us of the now famous Tartine in SF; even the locals and the surrounding area resembled Mission District! The tiny bakery was packed with people, but the brioche toast with sqirl jam was worth the wait, the coffee...not so much. Sorry LA, you still have some catching up to do in that department!
Since we were near Griffith Park, we put baby in the Ergo and headed over for an impromptu hike (yes, in heels..it's about time we leave hiking gear in the car for these occasions). This was our first time seeing the park side since the last time we visited the observatory a few years back. It was an easy hike with a beautiful smoggy view of the city. LA has been pleasantly surprising me with its scenic views; I used to be a firm believer that only NorCal would provide such natural beauty (always going to be a NorCal girl at heart). We've been hiking more this year than we have last year in total. Much of it is due to the fact that I've been trying to avoid shopping as much as possible to prevent unnecessary temptations- with the exception of window shopping for inspiration and leisure. Connecting with nature always puts things back into perspective and reminds me of how often we sweat the small stuff.
Afterwards, we walked around the little downtown area of Los Feliz, which is full of small vintage shops, cafes and restaurants. It reminded me San Francisco mixed in with a bit of a Euro-vibe. I immediately fell in love with the area and have plans on coming back after a day of (actual) hiking!
