I came across this starburst wall decor from the Nate Berkus for Target line, and ended up purchasing it. However, since I decided upon hanging it above the bed, the Hubby was against the idea due to its weight (we live in an earthquake central zone). My solution was to create a DIY version which is much safer (if you don't mind the risk of wooden dowels falling on your head) and cheaper than the actual piece. All you need are...
- 15 wooden dowel sticks (36" 3/16") from Michael's
- 1 can of Rust-Oleum Metallic Finish spray paint in gold
- A glue gun
Total cost: $12 for 2!
I randomly criss-crossed the sticks in four layers - letting each layer dry before adding more pieces
Spray paint both sides generously, let dry (preferably outdoors), and that's all folks!
